English Entrepreneur Joins LED Revolution with Start-up

LED technology is paving the way for start-ups to capitalise on the growing need for more energy efficient solutions on a residential and commercial level. All over the world, businessmen from different backgrounds are looking into the possibilities LEDs have to offer.

Tony Carter of East Yorkshire, England, is one such entrepreneur. Formerly working as an aircraft engineer, he hopes to join the business of supplying LED light bulbs as the interest and demand for energy-efficient lighting continues to grow. Carter says the demand for methods to decrease electricity bills and cut carbon emissions has made the energy saving lighting market a highly lucrative sector for new entrepreneurs to invest in.

Carter’s company, Switch2LEDs, has already provided energy-efficient lighting solutions to local businesses and customers in the United Kingdom and overseas; the company has distributed LED products from brands like Toshiba and Philips.

According to Carter, LEDs are the best representatives of next-gen lighting. They’re more electronic device than light bulb, and provide a return of investment in just less than a year, making them a solid buy that helps the common homeowner save energy and money.

Indeed, LED light bulbs use up to 90 percent less energy than conventional light bulbs and boast of lower maintenance costs, thanks largely to their 20-year lifespan (that’s if they are used 8 hours a day). LEDs are so superior in many ways that experts predict that 80 percent of the world’s lighting products will be comprised entirely of LEDs by 2015.

Switch2LEDs is a small business, but it has one thing going for them: their website. The company’s website has allowed them to reach out to the entire world, so much so that their supplying LED lighting products to countries as far as China. The company is just one of many pinning its hopes on the success of the LED.
